SAMTRAC is offered as a classroom-based course at any of our conveniently located NOSA branches. Jump start your career in HSE with the SAMTRAC career path.

Starting with Introduction to SAMTRAC, on completion of the course learners will be able to control basic HSE hazards and risks at the point of action and in the execution of day to-day operational tasks associated with designated job related duties.

Students can then move onto SAMTRAC .The purpose of this course is to equip the learner with the ability to plan, implement and maintain a HSE management system.

Building on the body of existing knowledge obtained during the completion of SAMTRAC and other recognised HSE qualifications, Advanced SAMTRAC is an extension of the SAMTRAC suite of courses delivering on the HSE industry’s need for an extended qualification. Advanced SAMTRAC provides established HSE professionals with a combination of progressive HSE theory, as required to understand the practical application of complex HSE concepts, and a self-study assignment focusing on the application of the HSE methodology.

Advanced SAMTRAC

On completion of Advanced SAMTRAC, the learner will be able to apply the course methodologies and tools to implement an effective SHEQ management system on behalf of their organisation.

PREREQUISITES:

SAMTRAC (or an equivalent qualification assessed to be of the same standard as SAMTRAC), or a tertiary qualification in an HSE discipline. Please note for all classes, learners will require a smart device (tablet, laptop).

COURSE OVERVIEW:

 The Advanced SAMTRAC course covers the requirements of the following five unit standard-linked titles: 

  • Understanding the requirements for an integrated management system.
  • Mapping the business processes in the integrated management system.
  • Improving the effectiveness and efficiency of an integrated management system.
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating an operational plan for an integrated management system.
  • Applying the principles of ethics to improve organisational HSE culture in the integrated management system.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Advanced SAMTRAC comprises a pre-assesment, to be completed before the due-day, facilitator-led classroom tutorial, which covers seven modules. The seventh module is a practical assignment submission due within two weeks of completion of the classroom sessions.

  2. Applied operational process mapping for the SHEQ management system.
